Discovering Lipari

Arrival at Catania Airport (flight not included). Private transfer from Catania Airport to the port of Milazzo, from where you will board a scheduled hydrofoil to Lipari.

Upon arrival, collect your rental car and drive to the Ecoluxury retreat Tenuta di Castellaro. Check-in and enjoy some leisure time to relax and take advantage of the property’s services, including the excellent restaurant/bistro.

Lipari

In the morning, head to Lipari for a guided tour of its charming historic centre. Together with a private local guide, you'll stroll through the picturesque streets of the old town, dominated by the acropolis and the imposing castle. Visit the Cathedral of San Bartolomeo with its captivating Norman cloister, then enter the "Luigi Bernabò Brea" Regional Archaeological Museum, one of the most important in the Mediterranean. Here, the guide will share the millennia-old history of the Aeolian Islands through rare prehistoric, Greek, and Roman artifacts, including an extraordinary collection of theatrical masks. The tour ends with a panoramic view over the sea and nearby islands.

After your visit, take time to relax on one of Lipari’s beautiful beaches.

In the late afternoon, return to Tenuta di Castellaro. We recommend a 30-minute walk to the nearby Cave di Caolino, the island's oldest geological area. Here, intense volcanic activity has transformed the landscape into a palette of vivid colours. For Lipari's locals, this has always been a place of wonder—where bright rock hues, the whisper of the wind, and the scent of the sea create a magical atmosphere. To protect and enhance this extraordinary natural site, Tenuta di Castellaro has launched an ambitious reclamation project, turning the area into an accessible geo-mining park.

Overnight stay.

After breakfast, head to the port of Lipari, where a private boat waits for an unforgettable day at sea between Lipari and Vulcano. Cruise along the southeast coast of Lipari, taking in the wild beauty of the landscape and the towering sea stacks of Petra Longa and Petra Menalda, dramatic stone columns rising from the turquoise sea.

Next, set sail toward Vulcano, the island of fire and sulphur. Once docked, you’ll have time to explore at your own pace—wander through the village, relax on the famous black sand beaches, or enjoy a seaside lunch in one of the island’s restaurants.

In the afternoon, return to the boat for a panoramic cruise around the island. Discover hidden coves and breathtaking sights only reachable by sea: the atmospheric Grotta del Cavallo, Grotta Abate, and the legendary Venus Pool, where—according to myth—the goddesses bathed to preserve their beauty. You’ll then sail towards the peaceful Baia del Gelso, surrounded by prickly pears and untouched nature.

Throughout the day, you’ll stop for swimming or simply to float and soak in the views. For those who wish, snorkelling will reveal rocky seabed’s teeming with marine life. This will be a rejuvenating experience where time slows down and every moment becomes a memory.

Upon returning to Lipari, enjoy dinner in one of the town’s many restaurants before heading back to Tenuta di Castellaro for the night.
